You were always warned as a kid not to sleep with your mouth open, but we never imagined this would be the outcome beyond a little snoring. A Richmond, Virginia woman identified as Dr. Krista Edelman woke up to find a LIVE BAT taking a break inside her mouth while she slept. The video details the bizarre story, originally reported by Sky News, and a full interview can be found below from Cincinnati News Channel 12.

The woman in the video describes that she was dreaming that a little mouse was trying to get into her mouth. Well, bats and mice are small and furry so we can see how the two can be confused but that’s a trippy dream even without the bat.

We know this might not be disturbing in the gory or violent sense, but waking up with a live bat in your mouth when you’re not Ozzy Osbourne is enough to scare just about anybody. Add that bats can carry rabies, and you have every reason to panic.

According to the report, Dr. Edelman reached out to a friend who worked with infectious diseases, and he advised her to get tested ASAP for the disease, with everything reportedly coming back fine. Talk about a close encounter of the worst kind!

Consider this our reminder to close the windows and keep our mouths shut at night. Sweet dreams, everybody!
