GHOST has just unleashed a brand new movie, “2 BIG TO RIG” in theaters. This movie was filmed during their most recent tour, “The Skeletour,” at their two Mexico City performances. This “GHOUVIE” is a concert film that features behind-the-scenes elements, celebrating the crew, the fans, and the magical spectacle that is GHOST. And a spectacle it is indeed! The show itself has been upgraded with a massive digital video wall that changes imagery to create new scenery for each song.
The movie was shot on 16mm and IMAX. The vintage film look of this feature gave it a fantastical aura, like discovering a film reel of a clandestine satanic band leading an audience in ritual.
SPOILERS UP AHEAD

Weaved throughout the performances, there are scenes featuring the crew setting up and talking about bringing the show to life. This tour was planned a year in advance. To bring the show to life each night, there is the touring crew of 106 people and the venue crew working together. All of the lights, stage, SFX, pyro, sound equipment, and more weigh TONS in transport.
A pyrotechnician mentions that oftentimes with rock shows, things just happen and they roll with it, but with Ghost, every element is meticulously planned and needs to happen at the exact moment because, “we have a vision.”
All of the planning and hard work absolutely SHOWS in this THRILLING SHOW! When watching Ghost perform, the real world fades away as Papa V and the band of Nameless Ghouls RISE and take the stage! It’s pure magic. Papa Perpetua V is still very much a spooky enigma, with moments of silliness shining through with the audience and his fellow Ghouls. There are NO LORE ELEMENTS in this film. So there is no new information on Papa V, and we still don’t know the fate of Frater Imperator.

The major story elements of this film are the band going to Mexico, Tobias Forge, the lead singer who plays Papa V and mastermind behind Ghost, falling ill with food poisoning, aka Montezuma’s Revenge, canceling one of the shows due to it, the fans and how all the people who love Ghost keep the show going and alive.
Through U.K.’s “KERRANG! Magazine,” it has been reported that Tobias Forge is taking a hiatus with Ghost due to the need for new ideas and inspiration and to spend time with his family.
With this in mind, I consider this film a final hurrah to this era of Ghost. This film is a wonderful way to bookend this chapter. Thank you to Tobias and to the entire Ghost team for giving us this wonderful escape from reality into their world. Also, I am wishing Tobias and the team a great break that is well deserved.

FINAL WORD
This film is PERFECT for Ghost fans and those who want a taste of the macabre and exciting world of Ghost. Though I was a little disappointed with no lore additions to this film, I still had an INCREDIBLE TIME! I was fully immersed and bewitched by Ghost’s incredible performance that was so artistically captured on film. Thank you for joining me on this spooky journey to Ghost’s “2 BIG TO RIG”!
This film is haunting theaters for a limited time.
