There are never enough Hellboy stories to go around, and we’re thankful Mike Mignola still loves diving back into the macabre and creepy world of the B.P.R.D. and our favorite big red paranormal investigator. This time, a new series is about to crack open some very dark cases buried deep within the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

One of the things we always loved about Hellboy was the idea of a government agency that knew monsters, demons and all sorts of supernatural nasties were real, and had the resources to fight them. Sometimes all you need is a little fire and brimstone and one big red fist to get the job done. This new story, however, isn’t necessarily about Hellboy himself, and that’s what really intrigues us. Did we mention the investigation takes place in Honolulu, Hawaii? What could possibly go wrong on a tropical island, right?

Comics legend Mike Mignola is reuniting with longtime collaborator Chris Roberson (iZombie) and artist Mike Norton (Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: From Below, Battlepug) for B.P.R.D.: Declassified, an all-new five-issue series coming from Dark Horse Comics in 2027.

Fans last saw psychic B.P.R.D. agent Susan Xiang in 2025’s The Shadow of the Golden Crane, written by Roberson with art by Michael Avon Oeming. That story explored her family’s connection to the mysterious Golden Crane Society. Now, she’ll team up with astral-projecting agent Victor Koestler to investigate a missing person case with some decidedly supernatural complications.

Norton is equally excited about the strange territory the new series explores.

B.P.R.D.: Declassified #1 is scheduled to hit comic shops on February 17, 2027. Keep an eye on Dark Horse Comics for additional details as the series gets closer to release.
