One day, we’ll be the fine elders making horror movies of our own, and if that means terrorizing the neighborhood with a killer rug or some other wonderfully ridiculous creature feature, count us in. Until then, SILVER SCREAMERS offers a heartwarming look at a group of seniors proving you’re never too old to get behind a camera and make something wonderfully weird.

The Horror Collective, the genre label from Studio Dome, has acquired U.S. distribution rights to director Sean Cisterna‘s documentary, which follows a spirited group of senior citizens as they take on the challenges of making a low-budget horror film. For some, the project offers a new creative outlet and a chance to build friendships. For others, it’s an opportunity to keep learning, stay engaged and discover what they’re capable of doing.

The documentary celebrates the idea that creativity has no expiration date. Making a movie isn’t always easy, especially on a limited budget, but the experience gives these aspiring filmmakers something meaningful to work toward while bringing a little more horror into their lives.

After premiering at Fantastic Fest in 2025, SILVER SCREAMERS went on to screen at festivals around the world, including Toronto After Dark, the Calgary International Film Festival, Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and Celluloid Screams.

The film will make its exclusive streaming debut on BloodStream on November 6, 2026, with special theatrical screenings to follow. Los Angeles-area audiences can catch it at Lumiere Music Hall in Beverly Hills on November 8 and LOOK Dine-In Cinemas in Glendale on November 9. Cisterna will attend both screenings for Q&As. Additional platforms are expected to follow in the first quarter of 2027.

BloodStream programmer Clark Collis praised the documentary’s mix of humor and heart, highlighting its appeal beyond the horror crowd. The film even features a short movie about a killer rug, which sounds like exactly the kind of wonderfully offbeat idea we can get behind.

We’re recommending SILVER SCREAMERS for horror fans who appreciate the people and passion behind the genre as much as the finished films. It’s a reminder that trying something new, finding your people and making a little movie magic don’t have an age limit. When our own senior horror filmmaking days finally arrive, we hope we bring half as much enthusiasm to the set.
