Zombies are one of the few movie monsters that can be basically anywhere in the world. All you need is a bite, a body, and then, well, you’ve got yourself a zombie. They aren’t stopped by borders or territories. They just keep walking until they find something to eat. Simple, but incredibly effective.
That’s what makes APOCALYPSE Z: NEW WORLD so damn interesting. The zombie apocalypse doesn’t have to happen in America, and this series is perfectly happy reminding us that the rest of the world would have its own terrifying way of dealing with the end of civilization. As Americans, we sometimes have this funny habit of thinking everything has to happen here to count. Nope. Spain has zombies too, and judging by this new teaser, they look every bit as pissed off as the ones we’re used to seeing.
The second installment in the Apocalypse Z franchise is heading to Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles on October 13 before making its worldwide debut on Prime Video this Halloween, October 31. The film also premieres at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival on October 10. Prime Video has now released the official teaser, giving us our first real look at the next chapter of this increasingly global zombie nightmare.

Directed by Carles Torrens, Apocalypse Z: New World moves the action to the Canary Islands, which have become Europe’s last refuge following the outbreak of the TSJ virus. When a mission heads to the mainland in search of vital supplies, Roberto joins the group with questionable intentions, and what should be a dangerous supply run quickly becomes a fight for survival against hordes of infected and tensions within the group.
The sequel stars Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas and Santiago Vaca Narvaja, with Berta Vázquez and José María Yazpik returning from the first film. And yes, Lúculo the cat is back, because apparently surviving the zombie apocalypse wasn’t enough punishment for the poor little bastard the first time around.
The first Apocalypse Z became one of Prime Video’s most-watched international movies, and New World looks ready to expand that world considerably.
