Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes? Well, a big ass snake at least.
Look, we don’t have anything against snakes. Most of them are just doing their thing, trying to survive and avoid humans as much as we’re trying to avoid stepping on one in the garage. But every once in a while, Hollywood decides that what the world really needs is another giant snake movie, and BEWARE BOIÚNA has us tucking our pants into our socks and reconsidering whether the Amazon rainforest needs to be on anybody’s vacation itinerary.
Directed by Mike P. Nelson, with a screenplay by Alan McElroy and a story by McElroy and Tony Giglio, BEWARE BOIÚNA drops us deep into the Amazon, where a medical mission quickly turns into a fight for survival. The problem isn’t disease, hostile locals or getting lost in the jungle. It’s Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator that awakens and decides that her territory isn’t big enough for a bunch of humans.
The film stars Kiana Madeira, Jessica Rothe and Logan Marshall Green and runs approximately 104 minutes. BEWARE BOIÚNA is currently scheduled to slither into U.S. theaters on October 2, 2026.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Deep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain. In the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.
Snake horror certainly isn’t anything new. We’ve had plenty of cinematic encounters with our legless friends over the years, from the wonderfully bizarre HSSSSS to the giant reptilian chaos of ANACONDA. We’ve watched Samuel L. Jackson lose his shit over SNAKES ON A PLANE, and PYTHON gave us a genetically engineered monster snake terrorizing a small town. Hollywood has never exactly been short on ways to make us uncomfortable around something that doesn’t even have legs.
BEWARE BOIÚNA, however, appears to be going after something a little more primal. Instead of dropping a giant snake into an airplane or unleashing one through a laboratory accident, this movie takes us into the creature’s own backyard. The Amazon becomes the hunting ground, and the humans are the ones who wandered into it.
That’s where this one starts getting under our skin.
Boiúna is rooted in Amazonian folklore, where the legendary giant serpent is known as a powerful supernatural creature associated with the rivers and waterways of the region. The film takes that mythology and turns it into a colossal horror movie predator, giving us something considerably more frightening than your average garden snake. The Amazon was fine before we found out about this monster of a snake…it’s the Amazon, it doesn’t need more help from weird-ass animals…but we digress.
We’re sure there are plenty of beautiful places to visit in South America. We’ve seen the pictures. Gorgeous scenery, incredible wildlife, lush forests and absolutely no reason whatsoever for us to be standing anywhere near a body of water after watching BEWARE BOIÚNA.
So yes, snakes aren’t so bad. We respect them. We appreciate their place in the ecosystem. We’re even willing to admit that most of them want nothing to do with us.
But we’re also perfectly comfortable admitting that if a colossal ancient serpent starts moving through the Amazon looking for dinner, we are not sticking around to find out whether we’re on the menu.
BEWARE BOIÚNA arrives in U.S. theaters October 2, 2026.
