Oni Press and Archie Comics are bringing Francesco Francavilla’s haunting artwork back from the grave with a massive new hardcover collecting the first six issues of Afterlife With Archie.
Archie Andrews and the gang have never looked quite this terrifying. Oni Press and Archie Comic Publications are teaming up for Afterlife With Archie: Mausoleum Edition Vol. 1, a massive 11-by-17-inch hardcover that presents Eisner Award-winning artist Francesco Francavilla’s original artwork in stark black and white.
FROM THE PRESS RELEASE: The new edition revisits the first six issues of Afterlife With Archie, the horror series written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with artwork by Francavilla that transformed Riverdale’s familiar faces into unlikely survivors of a nightmare. Originally launching in 2013, the series delivered a darker vision of Archie Comics, turning its beloved characters into horror icons and earning widespread critical acclaim along the way.
Francavilla’s atmospheric artwork helped establish the series as a standout in horror comics. The Mausoleum Edition puts his complete interior artwork and covers from Afterlife With Archie #1-6 on display in an oversized format designed to showcase his original linework. The artist himself has remastered the artwork for this black-and-white presentation, offering readers and collectors a new way to experience the series.
The timing is particularly interesting for fans, with a live-action Afterlife With Archie streaming adaptation slated to debut on Disney+ in 2027. Oni Press and Archie Comics are also teasing further news about the series’ future as that adaptation approaches.
Afterlife With Archie: Mausoleum Edition Vol. 1 launched on Kickstarter on October 29 at 10 a.m. ET, with the campaign offering the oversized hardcover alongside exclusive add-ons and merchandise. Available options include signatures from Aguirre-Sacasa and Francavilla, special Afterlife With Archie single-issue and graphic novel reprints, T-shirts, enamel pins, limited-edition posters, and more.
