Spooky season is in full swing as we’re nearing halfway through the month of October. Now I know most of us probably live the Halloween/ spooky life all year round, but sometimes there is far too much going on to keep track of and you end up trying to do so much you don’t actually do anything. The endless scrolling on Netflix looking for a movie to just spend hours scrolling and not even watching a movie.
This year has been absolutely stacked with some amazing horror games and there is definitely not enough time to play them all. Trust me, I’m trying. With that said, Lacey of the Dead and I came up with a list of the top five games to keep the spooky vibes going. Now we’re going to regulate this to just games that came out this year, but who knows, we can easily make more lists involving classic games, movies, comics, etc.
So, grab your favorite hot chocolate (or pumpkin spiced) drink, some cozy clothes and blankets, and maybe even a stuffed animal for the really scary parts and join us as we get our spooky game on.
These are our Top 5 for Spooky Vibes (2026 Video Games Edition)

Resident Evil: Requiem
You mostly play as FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Reporter Alyssa Ashcroft from the Outbreak Series. Grace is tasked with investigating a series of strange deaths where victims look infected with an unknown virus. During her investigation, Grace uncovers an even darker conspiracy that goes back 30 years to the Raccoon City Incident and the Umbrella Corporation.
To aid Grace’s quest for answers, she meets RPD rookie turned DSO (Division of Security Operations) agent, Leon S. Kennedy. Together they race to uncover the truth and attempt to stop another world altering incident.
There’s no way we can do this list without adding arguably the best horror game of the year. Resident Evil: Requiem perfectly blends nostalgia with modern gameplay. Grace Ashcroft is a great addition to the series known for its memorable characters, and Leon returns to show us all why he’s one of the best (if not the best) characters the series has. We gave the game our first ever 5 out of 5 and said “this is the best Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4.”
The spooky vibes are plenty in the latest installment in the legendary horror franchise. With the addition to new mutated enemies, the return of some series favorites is sure to send a shiver up your spine.
Resident Evil: Requiem is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC

Fatal Frame II: The Crimson Butterfly Remake
Twins Mio and Mayu Amakura venture into the secluded mountain town of Minakami Village. While exploring the abandoned town they become separated and now Mio desperately searches for her sister in an attempt to leave. But as forces beyond her control, Mayu is being pulled by a dark power trying to complete a long since forgotten prophecy that includes cults, ritualistic murder and sacrifice and spirits refusing to move on.
Equipped with a supernatural camera that can take photos of the haunted souls, you must fight against time and demonic forces to save your sister and hopefully leave before it’s too late.
When word was released that Tecmo was working on a full remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, we were all understandably concerned. The original game was released in 2002 and even though was one of the best survival horror games ever made, it never received the recognition it rightfully deserved. Audiences back then weren’t as open to the idea of fighting ghosts with a camera.
But Tecmo put all our concerns to rest once the game was released. A near-perfect retelling of the 2002 classic and the best introduction to newcomers of the series. This version of Crimson Butterfly ushers in the future for the series by looking into its past. We said Crimson Butterfly Remake is “A modernized version of a beloved title that still preserves the gameplay and atmosphere that made the original special.” in our 4.5 out of 5 review.
This was a game that thoroughly freaked us out in 2002. But with the updated visuals and a stronger connection with your sister. This retelling had us gripping our chairs in fear and excitement. Watching a ghost woman jump from a third story balcony to her brutal death and hearing her shriek still makes our hairs stand on end.
Fatal Frame II: The Crimson Butterfly Remake is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC

The 7th Guest Remake
Playing as the titular 7th Guest in a haunted house, you are tasked with uncovering the mystery and murders of the other guests within the mansion walls. You must solve puzzles and have your wits about you as you go from room to room gathering clues and watching the final fatal moments of the residents’ lives. The story touches on themes of greed, lust, murder and abuse.
A full remake of the 1993 original, utilizing brand new FMV scans of actors and revamping the puzzles for a more modern audience, this game is a perfect example of spooky vibes. It’s like walking around Disney’s The Haunted Mansion but for adults. The puzzles accompany the narrative and ghostly feel help keep you engaged.

The 7th Guest is currently available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Coming soon for Nintendo Switch

As Aiden Lynch, you witness as your girlfriend Sunny is taken by the Cenobites after playing with the Genesis Configuration during a late-night romp. You vow to save her soul by venturing into the Labyrinth. But you soon find out a life forfeit to Leviathan is not easily taken back. Now Aiden must travel between our world and Hell and back to save his love. But at what cost?
A game that’s just as brutal as its source material. For those who are brave (or naive) to solve the puzzle box, you will face not only the forces of Hell itself, but demented cult members who worship Leviathan and the Cenobites. Wanting nothing more than to ascend to the limits of pain and pleasure.
Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games gave themselves the monumental task of bringing the world of Hellraiser to video games. Co-written by creator and legendary author Clive Barker, the story fully understands the assignment and gives us an experience true to the Hellraiser name. They did not hold back on any aspect of what makes this a true Hellraiser experience.
Any hardcore horror fan knows just how important Hellraiser is. It’s a franchise that still gives us the shivers and freaks us out when we see the abominations known as the Cenobites. To finally have a single player experience within that world is a morbid dream come true. It’s easy to see why we gave Revival a 4 out of 5.
Hellraiser: Revival out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC

Silent Hill: Townfall
Simon Ordell wakes up in a strange town covered in a deep fog. No memory of where he is and no idea why he’s even there. All he has is a medical bracelet with his name.
But the town knows him.
He finds clues and items that call to him. Simon wants to know why he’s here, but uncovering that truth might just break him.
This being Silent Hill’s first full game in a first person perspective had many of us thinking back to the cancelled Silent Hills (P.T.) game by Hideo Kojima. With Konami breathing new life into this dormant franchise, it seems as if Silent Hill is back to give us nightmares while forcing us to look at the darkness within ourselves.
Keep an eye out for our review on this one coming soon. But from what we’ve already played, this experience is giving us the chills in all the right ways.
Silent Hill: Townfall is out now for PlayStation 5 and Steam
