If you have been hanging around TrulyDisturbing.com for any length of time, you already know we appreciate music that sounds like it crawled out of some particularly nasty corner of hell. SATANIC PLANET certainly fits that description, and the band is back with a new music video for “ANTICHRIST” that takes things into the territory of cult horror.
Featuring Lucien Greaves, co-founder and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, alongside Luke Henshaw, Dave Lombardo and Justin Pearson, SATANIC PLANET has carved out a sound that mixes heavy percussion, ominous electronics, strange vocal textures and a healthy dose of sonic chaos. This latest release pairs that unsettling approach with a video presented as a short film, making it a natural fit for those of us who appreciate our music with a little cinematic nightmare fuel.

“ANTICHRIST” opens the door to the band’s upcoming album, DEAD DEITIES, and the track wastes little time establishing its dark atmosphere. Brooding sounds and ritualistic, reversed vocals build toward an abrasive, screaming introduction before the song settles into a slow, heavy assault. It is strange, aggressive and about as far removed from your average radio-friendly rock track as you can get.
The band features musicians with some serious underground credentials. Lombardo is known for his work with SLAYER, MISFITS, MR. BUNGLE and DEAD CROSS, while Pearson’s credits include THE LOCUST, SWING KIDS and DEAF CLUB. Henshaw brings his own experience across several projects, while Greaves adds his perspective as a co-founder of The Satanic Temple. Together, they have created something that sits at the intersection of experimental heavy music and dark, confrontational art.
If you caught our previous coverage of SATANIC PLANET’s “Church Burning,” you already have an idea of the territory this band likes to explore. “ANTICHRIST” continues that trip into the darker side of music, with a visual component that makes this latest release worth checking out.
