Iron Maiden is taking fans back to one of the band’s most beloved eras with SOMEWHERE IN TIME: The Graphic Album, a new anthology celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary 1986 record. Created in collaboration with publisher Z2, the collection reimagines the science fiction worlds inspired by all eight tracks on the album, bringing together an impressive lineup of comic book and film talent.
Arriving worldwide March 2, 2027, the graphic album features a collection of original stories, along with a prologue and epilogue centered around the band’s iconic mascot, Eddie. Written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and illustrated by Andy MacDonald, these bookend stories explore what might have happened in the moments leading up to the creation of the unforgettable Somewhere in Time album cover.

The creative lineup includes Steve Niles, David Dastmalchian, Corin Hardy, Benjamin Raab, Leah Moore, John Reppion, Vincent Locke and several other artists and writers. Comic book legend Bill Sienkiewicz contributes the introduction, while Iron Maiden guitarist and songwriter Adrian Smith sits down for an in-depth interview with Dave Shack of Phantom to discuss the making of the album and its lasting influence.
Smith also shared his appreciation for the album’s distinctive Eddie design, calling it his favorite version of the band’s iconic mascot. “There’s a real power there you know, a genuine power and menace,” Smith explained.
Several collectible editions will be available, including Deluxe and Platinum versions featuring metallic Time Machine slipcases, a die-cut green acetate targeting lens and artwork by Blake Armstrong. Additional exclusive covers come from Tony Harris, Jay Geldhof and Dan Mumford. The Platinum edition also includes four exclusive framed Eddie cards by Davide Fabbri and a bookplate signed by Smith.

Z2 Editor-in-Chief Rantz Hoseley reflected on the album’s influence, saying, “It’s such an honor to bring this creative team together to explore these worlds!”
SOMEWHERE IN TIME: The Graphic Album arrives March 2, 2027. Preorders are available now through Z2 Comics in the U.S. and Z2 Europe for Europe and the U.K.
