Film festival season is raging on, and we have already seen many new films being showcased, not only horror and sci-fi, but all areas of film. Beyond Fest is one such festival taking place here in the Los Angeles area, and it is set to give us some of the genre’s best new films. We’ve only attended the event a few times, and it is indeed a great festival for new movies, anniversary screenings, and surprise pop-ins from cast and crew.
This year is shaping up to be another must attend event, with tickets going pretty fast for many screenings and events. What better place for a survival horror flick to make its premiere, right?
Next Saturday, Sept. 27, Casey Walker’s survival horror film Ithaqua will make its U.S. premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles. The film will then continues its festival run with appearances at Sitges, the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, Grimfest, Telluride Horror Show, VHS, FilmQuest and other genre festivals. (We told you it was that time of year.)

There is plenty of history attached to Ithaqua, beginning with Hammer Films returning to the business with the film. That’s some major news in and of itself. Walker, who served as the sole executive producer on In a Violent Nature, has also been developing Ithaqua for more than a decade, with the film’s journey to the screen reportedly spanning 13 years.

The film centers on isolation, folklore, and psychological dread, bringing together a cast that includes Luke Hemsworth (Westworld, Land of Bad), Kevin Durand (The Naked Gun, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come), Craig Lauzon (Trickster, Beyblade), Leenah Robinson (Revival, 1923) and Michael Pitt (Day of the Fight, Ghost in the Shell).
For horror fans, the Beyond Fest premiere is an opportunity to see Ithaqua before it continues making its way through the festival circuit.
