International horror fans, here’s one to keep on your radar this Halloween season. LOVE KILLS, a Brazilian vampire thriller dripping with neon, grit and stylish violence, is making its way to U.S. digital platforms on October 30, 2026. Based on Danilo Beyruth‘s Brazilian graphic novel, the 2025 film marks the solo feature directing debut of Luiza Shelling Tubaldini and offers a dark, romantic spin on the vampire genre.

Set in downtown São Paulo, LOVE KILLS follows Marcos (Gabriel Stauffer), a struggling café worker who becomes fascinated by a mysterious woman named Helena (Thais Lago). Every night, she occupies the same corner seat, dressed to the nines, holding a cup of coffee she never drinks. When Marcos believes she’s in danger, he steps in to help, only to discover that this woman is far from helpless.

Helena is a centuries old vampire being hunted by a rival clan of immortals. Before long, Marcos finds himself pulled into a hidden supernatural world where rival vampire factions wage war, appearances can be deadly and falling for the wrong person could cost him his life. His attempt to play the hero quickly becomes a dangerous introduction to a world he never knew existed.

What immediately stands out about LOVE KILLS is its visual style. The film trades traditional gothic castles and foggy graveyards for the neon soaked streets and grimy corners of São Paulo, creating an urban nightmare that feels right at home with its dangerous inhabitants. The story also turns the familiar damsel in distress setup on its head, with Marcos discovering that the woman he thinks needs saving has been surviving for centuries.

We know horror fans have plenty to choose from every October, but it would be a shame to overlook a film like this simply because it comes from Brazil. Sure you’ll have to do some reading of subtitles but that’s never stopped a good film. The dark atmosphere, striking visuals, and battle between rival vampire clans give LOVE KILLS plenty of reasons to earn a spot on your Halloween watchlist.

LOVE KILLS premieres October 30, 2026, on leading digital platforms and Film Movement Plus.
