Halloween is all about candy, costumes and things that go bump in the night. This year, a twisted nursery rhyme is getting a bloody makeover, and two genre veterans are along for the ride. Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Halloween) and Gary Busey (Point Break, The Buddy Holly Story) star in TRICK AND TREATS, a new horror film from director Eric Hector that puts a murderous spin on the classic Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater rhyme.
Following its U.S. release, in September 2025, TRICK AND TREATS arrives on UK digital platforms October 19, courtesy of Miracle Media, bringing a little extra blood to this year’s Halloween season.

Officially Synopsis: The film takes its inspiration from the centuries old nursery rhyme about Peter, a man who couldn’t keep his wife, so he locked her away inside a pumpkin shell. More than 200 years later, that unsettling bit of folklore takes a sinister turn inside a decaying roadside biker bar, where a strange jack o’ lantern named Trick holds a dark secret. Voiced by McDowell, the peculiar pumpkin becomes the center of a paranormal mystery that could make anyone think twice about bringing home Halloween decorations.
Busey plays Pastor Joseph, a man convinced that Trick is the very pumpkin from the infamous rhyme. His attempt to steal the object fails, and his warnings about its true nature are dismissed as the ramblings of a madman. Unfortunately for a group of young friends, Joseph’s concerns might be a little more justified than anyone realizes.
Ashley, played by Loren Ledesma, and her costumed friends find themselves at the roadside establishment while celebrating Halloween. Their evening quickly spirals into a nightmare when a gang of bikers takes them captive and threatens them with torture and death. With seemingly no way out, Ashley begins hearing Trick’s voice in her head. Whether the pumpkin intends to save her or has something far more murderous planned remains to be seen.
With McDowell’s unmistakable voice bringing life to a potentially lethal Halloween decoration and Busey adding another memorable character to his long screen career, TRICK AND TREATS looks to mix supernatural folklore with backwoods brutality. It’s a nasty little twist on a familiar childhood rhyme, proving that sometimes the scariest stories are the ones we learned before we were old enough to understand them.
