You wanna see a crazy, gore-filled ’80s horror flick that will warp your mind and rot your teeth? Then we have the movie for you! STREET TRASH is coming to glorious 4K UHD thanks to Synapse Films, and this cult classic is not for the weak of heart or stomach.
Originally released in 1987, director James Muro’s gloriously disgusting horror-comedy is getting an all-new, uncut 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative, supervised and approved by cinematographer David Sperling. We already have multiple copies of this nasty little gem in our collection, but this new edition is shaping up to be the crown jewel.
Set in the grimy underbelly of lower Manhattan, STREET TRASH follows two young runaways living behind an auto wrecking yard. Things get particularly ugly when a liquor store owner discovers a stash of decades-old booze called Tenafly Viper and starts selling it for a dollar a bottle. The catch? Anyone who drinks the stuff melts into a colorful puddle of goo. Naturally, the situation spirals into a spectacularly sleazy mess.

This is the kind of outrageous, anything-goes gore that made ’80s horror such a memorable era. The film has earned its place among cult horror fans thanks to its outrageous practical effects, grimy atmosphere and gleefully tasteless humor. Now, Synapse Films is giving the movie the premium home-video treatment it deserves.
Arriving December 7, 2026, the two-disc special edition includes both a 4K Ultra HD disc and a Blu-ray featuring the new restoration. The release comes housed in a side-loading hardbox designed by artist Wes Benscoter and includes Dolby Vision, plus DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround and the original theatrical mono audio.

The extras are just as enticing, featuring two audio commentaries with producer Roy Frumkes and director James Muro, the two-hour making-of documentary The Meltdown Memoirs, the original 16mm short that inspired the feature, interviews, deleted scenes, cast and crew Q&As, and the original theatrical trailer.
The unrated 102-minute release carries a suggested retail price of $49.95 and is region-free. Preorders are available now through Synapse Films, Orbit DVD and DiabolikDVD.
If your horror collection has room for one more melting, mutating, utterly repulsive classic, STREET TRASH is ready to make a mess of your shelf this December. Just remember: when somebody offers you a dollar bottle of mystery booze, maybe ask what it does to the human body first.
