Nearly a decade of waiting has led to this moment. Power Trip are back with “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger,” a double single marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Texas thrash metal band following the 2020 death of frontman Riley Gale.

The two tracks deliver the band’s signature aggression while introducing a new era with vocalist Seth Gilmore. Rather than attempting to recreate the past, the band is moving forward while keeping the sound that made Power Trip a force in modern metal.

Recorded at Empire Sound in Carrollton, Texas, the singles mark the band’s first collaboration with producer Jacob Hansen, known for his work with Arch Enemy, Volbeat, Amon Amarth and The Black Dahlia Murder. Drummer Chris Ulsh said Hansen brought valuable experience making big records while understanding the roots of extreme metal.

“Precinct 3” charges ahead with rapid-fire riffs, sharp rhythmic changes and the crushing half-time breakdowns longtime fans have come to expect. Lyrically, the track examines the dangers of unchecked authority. Guitarist Blake Ibanez said the band considered what Gale might have wanted to address when writing the song, adding that the process came together naturally and felt like the right way to honor his memory.

“Scavenger” takes a more mid-tempo approach, built around a menacing central riff and a heavy, deliberate groove. Gilmore’s lyrics target people who attach themselves to others’ achievements, taking credit and influence without putting in the work themselves.

Both tracks were produced by Hansen and co-produced by Ibanez. They arrive through the band’s new label, Blue Grape Music, with a video for “Precinct 3” directed by Eric Richter.

Fans can stream both songs now, with a limited-edition 7-inch available for preorder through the band’s and label’s online stores. A separate Record Store Day Black Friday edition featuring alternate artwork is scheduled to hit independent record shops on Nov. 27, 2026.
