You can drive past the same houses every day, wave to your neighbors and never know what is happening behind their doors. That’s part of what makes true crime stories like this so unsettling. “Houses of horror” aren’t always isolated properties in the middle of nowhere. They can exist in ordinary communities, including major cities, hiding in plain sight.
A new Oxygen documentary is taking viewers inside one of Ohio’s most disturbing cases of 2026 after authorities discovered 16 children living in allegedly deplorable conditions inside a Vinton County home.
Deadline was first to report the news exclusively. THE SIDERS 16: OHIO HOUSE OF HORRORS is a 90-minute documentary from KT Studios that will examine the case and the investigation surrounding the family.
The children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, were discovered in June when authorities executed a search warrant. Investigators described the conditions inside the home as extremely poor, with reports that the children had been confined to an approximately 12-by-12-foot area.

All 16 children were removed from the property and taken for medical evaluation, with several reportedly requiring hospitalization.
Four adults connected to the family, Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, were arrested and charged with multiple counts of endangering children. Gary Siders Jr. and Elizabeth Siders were later charged with allegations of child sexual abuse in a separate case. The defendants have pleaded not guilty to the initial charges and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The documentary will follow the case as those proceedings continue, including the additional allegations that emerged in August. Stephanie Lydecker, founder of KT Studios, directs and executive produces alongside Kevin Brennecke.
The case raises an uncomfortable question that often comes with crimes discovered inside seemingly ordinary homes: How much can neighbors actually know about what happens behind closed doors? It’s easy to look at a story like this afterward and wonder how nobody noticed. The reality is that unless someone sees something unmistakably wrong, it can be incredibly difficult to know what is happening inside another family’s home.
