When horror movies make money, sequels usually aren’t far behind, and SCREAM 8 is officially moving forward with its first major returning star. Neve Campbell has given us the high sign, confirming that she’ll be back to battle Ghostface yet again as Sidney Prescott.

Yep, she’s returning!

Speaking with AP News, Campbell was discussing her upcoming projects when the subject of the next Scream movie came up. While she couldn’t reveal much, she did let fans know she’s on board.

“That’s in the pipeline as well,” Campbell said. “You know I can never tell you anything about Scream 8… I’ll be in it, I’ll be in it.”

Following the box office success of Scream 7, another installment was hardly a surprise. The seventh film became the highest-grossing entry in the franchise, bringing in more than $213 million worldwide. The next chapter is being written by Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, though story details and additional casting announcements have yet to surface.

As for where things go from here, Scream 7 left plenty of room for another round of mayhem. Isabel May‘s Tatum Evans and Joel McHale‘s Mark Evans could also factor into the next installment, but nothing has been confirmed beyond Campbell’s return.

We have to admit, we’re curious to see how much longer Ghostface can keep this thing going. The franchise has survived plenty of twists, turns, legacy character deaths and enough masked killers to make you suspicious of just about everyone. Ghostface hasn’t gone to hell or outer space just yet, so we’re hoping the series doesn’t completely screw the pooch with this next one.

Still, there’s one question we keep coming back to: When does Ghostface finally get put to rest for good? Then again, as long as audiences keep showing up, we probably shouldn’t expect that phone to stop ringing anytime soon.
