Carnivals have always had a knack for making the strange and unusual feel like part of the show. Add vampires, a grieving young woman and a traveling attraction hiding a sinister secret, and you have the makings of a Halloween horror watch. VAMPIRE CARNIVAL arrives on VOD October 30 through Aura Entertainment, bringing its dark supernatural tale home just in time for the holiday.

The story follows Gemma, played by Nell Verlaque (Thanksgiving), a young woman struggling with grief who encounters a mysterious carnival that appears in her small town without warning. The attraction offers a tempting escape from the pain she has been carrying, but its colorful spectacle conceals something far more sinister. Gemma soon discovers that the carnival is connected to a hidden world of vampires, and these creatures have a particularly unsettling appetite: they feed on human despair rather than blood.

As Gemma becomes increasingly entangled in the carnival’s illusions, she must face the trauma she has tried to leave behind. The alternative could leave her trapped as part of the show, with no way out.

Directing duo David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell are behind the film, with a screenplay by Jason Filardi and Peter Filardi. The cast also includes Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Paulina Chávez (Landman), Kieron Moore (Boots), Eoin Macken (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter), Alicia Sanz (El Cid) and Cedrick Cooper (Boots).

The premise gives VAMPIRE CARNIVAL a different angle on familiar vampire mythology. Instead of making blood the centerpiece, the film turns emotional suffering into the source of its monsters’ power. That idea also gives the carnival a more unsettling purpose: its promise of wonder and escape becomes a way to lure vulnerable people into danger.

With its traveling carnival setting, supernatural threats and themes of grief and manipulation, the film offers horror fans another option for their late-October viewing plans. Sometimes the scariest attraction isn’t the one with the monsters on display. It’s the one that knows exactly what you’re trying to escape.
