Leave it to Troma Entertainment to have a movie title so outrageous that you almost feel obligated to repeat it when somebody tells you about it. SURF NAZIS MUST DIE is one of those titles that sounds like somebody threw three completely unrelated ideas into a hat, pulled them out and decided, “Yep, that’s our movie.” And somehow, it works.
Troma Entertainment, the legendary independent studio behind some of the most gloriously unhinged movies ever committed to film, is bringing SURF NAZIS MUST DIE back in a new 4K Ultra HD + Special Edition Blu ray release scheduled for October 13, 2026. The new edition comes loaded with bonus material, giving longtime fans and newcomers another opportunity to experience one of Troma’s most infamous cult titles in a new home video presentation.

For those somehow unfamiliar with the film, IMDb’s basic premise is really all you need to know before diving in. After a devastating earthquake leaves California in ruins, a group of neo Nazi surfers takes control of the beaches. When their actions hit too close to home, a mother sets out for revenge. That’s the setup, and honestly, we think it’s best to leave the rest of the insanity for the movie itself.
Because SURF NAZIS MUST DIE is exactly the kind of film that reminds us why Troma has always occupied such a special corner of cult cinema. We absolutely love this movie, and it sits comfortably in that wonderful “so bad it’s good” territory where logic takes a back seat and the sheer audacity of what you’re watching becomes half the fun.
Troma has spent more than 50 years building a catalog that includes The Toxic Avenger, Def By Temptation, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Cannibal! The Musical and Tromeo and Juliet, so putting SURF NAZIS MUST DIE alongside those titles feels completely appropriate. This is a studio that has never been particularly interested in playing it safe, and fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
Directed by Peter George, the film has developed the kind of cult reputation that only a movie with a title like SURF NAZIS MUST DIE could possibly achieve. Its history with USA Network’s Up All Night helped expose it to a wider audience, while its outrageous premise made it a natural fit for the underground and punk audiences who embraced Troma’s particular brand of cinematic chaos.
Now, decades later, Troma is giving the film the collector’s edition treatment, and the list of extras is practically its own Troma marathon. The release includes the theatrical trailer, a Projection Booth Podcast audio interview, “Who Controls The Beaches?!?” featuring an interview with Peter George, the original Blu ray and DVD introductions, scenes from the Tromaville Cafe and “Waves Are A War Zone”, featuring interviews with George and producer Robert Tinnell.

For us, the biggest appeal is simply seeing a movie like this continue to find new life. There are plenty of technically impressive movies that disappear from the cultural conversation, but cult films have a strange way of hanging around, getting passed from one fan to another and becoming even more beloved because of how completely unconventional they are.
SURF NAZIS MUST DIE is one of those movies.
It isn’t the kind of title you’re likely to forget, and it certainly isn’t the kind of movie that could have come from anyone other than Troma. The fact that we’re talking about a 4K release of it decades after its original arrival is probably the best evidence that there is still an audience for movies that refuse to behave themselves.
So, if you’ve never seen SURF NAZIS MUST DIE, October might be the perfect time to correct that mistake. If you’ve already seen it, then you probably don’t need us to explain why having it in 4K is something worth getting excited about.
